The centre community based centre opened June 8th 1985 and is run by a parent and community management committee. The centre operates under the Education and Care Services National Law (WA) Act 2012 and is licensed for 47 children per day.

PLEASE NOTE: Parents must make 3 monthly contact to maintain their spot on the wait list. In addition, our daily fee will be $130.00, as of the 11th of January 2024.

Centre History

The Centre opened on June 8th, 1985. The Centre suffered extensive fire damage from suspected arson on 03 March 2002. Two weeks before reopening the Centre was gutted by fire for the second time in 6 months. On 07 October 2002, the service was relocated to an old Child Care Centre in Balcatta and services did not resume back in Duncraig until June 2004. The Centre is community based and run by a parent and community management committee. The Centre operates under the Education and Care Services National Regulations (WA) 2012. The centre is licensed for 47 children per day.

A Community Based Management Committee compromising of consumers of the centre and interested community members run our Centre. A Community Based Management Committee is of great value to our service. Parental involvement is very important at a management level to ensure the service is meeting family needs. All families are eligible to be elected to the Management Committee and are welcome to provide input into the operations of the service at any time.

The daily operations of the Centre are over seen by our Management Team, made up of Directors and Assistant Directors.

Our Rooms

The Duncraig Early Learning Centre operates three rooms. We employ a qualified float staff member and an assistant full-time. This ensures we have familiar faces to cover staff leave and programming time. It also provides spare pairs of hands when there are no staff away.

Djidi Djidi (Babies)

Age 0-2 years

A maximum of 12 children each day and four educators (1 Qualified Team Leader, 2 Educators and a short shift Educator from 9.30am-2.45pm daily).

Bindi Bindi (Toddlers)

Age 2-3 years

A maximum of 15 children each day and four educators (1 Qualified Team Leader, 2 Educators and a short shift Educator from 9.30am-2.45pm daily).

Yonga (Kindy)

Age 3-5 years

A maximum of 20 children each day and three educators (1 Early Childhood Teacher and 2 Educators).

Opening Hours

The Centre operates between the hours of 7.30am – 6:00pm, Monday to Friday excluding public holidays

The Centre closes every Christmas for two weeks plus public holidays. Fees are not charged over the Christmas period. Public holidays throughout the year are charged.

Enrolment

The current wait for enrolment at the Centre, is a minimum 18 months. Parents are required to contact the Centre every 3 months to maintain their place on the waiting list.

Fees are $130 a day across all three rooms as of the 11st of January 2024
